Tracing Communications Outbound Manager (CommOutboundMgr) Tasks (Doc ID 477998.1) - Siebel

To troubleshoot issues with outbound mails or issues with replies to or forwarding of inbound messages, you will need to increase the event logging and SQL logging for the Communications Outbound Manager component, CommOutboundMgr.

Follow the steps below to enable these increased logging levels. You can find more detail regarding component event logging in Siebel Bookshelf version 8  > Siebel System Monitoring and Diagnostics Guide > Configuring Siebel Server and Component Logging > Configuring Siebel Server Component Logging >

Setting Log Levels for Component Event Types

Log in to Siebel Web Client as SADMIN.

From the application-level menu, choose Site Map > Administration - Server Configuration > Servers > Components .

In the Components applet, select the Communications Outbound Manager component.

In the third applet click the Events tab.

In the list of  Events applet change the following Logging Levels to the following values:

Error Condition = 5

General Events = 3

Task Execution = 5

CommServer = 5

To enable SQL tracing, change the Event Logging Levels to the following:

SQL Tracing = 5

SQL Error = 5

SQL Parse and Execute = 5

SQL Summary = 5

SQL Trace All = 5

Stop and restart the Siebel Server.

Make sure the CommOutboundMgr Multi-Threaded task has started.

Send some mails via Siebel application native email processes:  Replies to inbound emailss or F9 Siebel Native Email Client

After all outbound mails, auto replies, manual replies, and forwarded emails have been sent, review the CommOutboundMgr log files for error messages with keywords Error or Fault. Check any reported error or fault messages to see if they will explain the cause of the issue. Oracle also suggests that you conduct a search on Metalink or Oracle Customer Support with the specific error or fault messages to see if there are any existing solutions or troubleshooting tips for those errors.

Consolidate all of the CommOutboundMgr log files into a single file and provide the consolidated file to Oracle Technical Support.

How to create and publish Inbound Web Service in Siebel based on Workflow

Inbound Web Services: The Inbound Web Service allows an external system to call a Siebel published Web Service. You can publish a business service or a business process as a Web Service and generate a Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) file that an external system can import. The Inbound Web Services can only be published from Siebel C using SOAP-RPC binding. Source: Oracle Docs What Is The Difference Between Web Services and APIs? An API is an interface that allows you to build on the data and functionality of another application, while a web service is a network-based resource that fulfills a specific task. Yes, there’s overlap between the two: all web services are APIs, but not all APIs are web services. Both web services and APIs are — at their core — very useful and very much used today. However, it’s the web services associated with SOAP and/or Service Oriented Architecture which are falling out of favor. Source: NordicApis Process: Prepare the workflow which will serve as Si...
