Tracing the Send Email Button Click Event for Send Button – Siebel Web Client (Doc ID 477998.1) - Siebel

In addition to tracing the reply and forward functionality in the Siebel Dedicated Client, Siebel Systems recommends tracing the reply and forward functionality on the Siebel Web Client. You can use Object Manager tracing on the Siebel Web Client to trace the button click events for Send button, following the steps below. For more detail regarding component event logging, refer to Siebel Bookshelf  > Siebel Server Administration Guide > Event Logging Administration > Component Event Types > Configuring Component Event Types.

Set up tracing on the object manager.

Log in to the Siebel Web Client as SADMIN.

From the application-level menu, choose View > Site Map >Administration - Server > Servers > Components view.

Select the Object Manager component that is being used and appropriate to the Siebel application.

Click the Component Event Configuration tab. In the Component Event Configuration applet, change the event logging levels for the following to these values:

Error Condition = 5

General Events = 3

Workflow Definition Loading = 5

Workflow Engine Invoked = 5

Workflow Step Execution = 5

Workflow Process Execution = 5

Task Execution = 5

Turning on SQL tracing will also help to diagnose issues, especially if they are related to database activities. To turn on SQL tracing, change the event logging levels for the following:

SQL Tracing = 5

SQL Error = 5

SQL Parse and Execute = 5

SQL Summary = 5

SQL Trace All = 5

Stop and restart the Siebel Server.

Log in to the Siebel application as the user who has access to the view where the behavior is reproducible.

From the application-level menu, choose View > User Preferences > Outbound Communications. Type Alt-Print Screen to take a screen shot.

From the screen, where the behavior is reproducible, select the record from where you want to send the email or fax.

Press F9 or File >Send Email and follow the steps to send the email out.

Modify the outgoing message according to what you are testing, its message body or the message subject or anything else on this screen that is relevant to the case being reported.

Before sending the reply or forward, type Alt-Print Screen to capture a screen shot of the details on this screen.

Click Send.

After the outbound message has been sent, then logout of the Siebel application.

Consolidate all of the log files in the server log directory, SIEBEL_ROOT\siebsrvr\bin\log. Make sure you have included the object manager log files. Provide the consolidated file to Siebel Technical Support.

How to create and publish Inbound Web Service in Siebel based on Workflow

Inbound Web Services: The Inbound Web Service allows an external system to call a Siebel published Web Service. You can publish a business service or a business process as a Web Service and generate a Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) file that an external system can import. The Inbound Web Services can only be published from Siebel C using SOAP-RPC binding. Source: Oracle Docs What Is The Difference Between Web Services and APIs? An API is an interface that allows you to build on the data and functionality of another application, while a web service is a network-based resource that fulfills a specific task. Yes, there’s overlap between the two: all web services are APIs, but not all APIs are web services. Both web services and APIs are — at their core — very useful and very much used today. However, it’s the web services associated with SOAP and/or Service Oriented Architecture which are falling out of favor. Source: NordicApis Process: Prepare the workflow which will serve as Si...
